In 2017, Wesfarmers produced its seventh Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), developed in conjunction with Reconciliation Australia. The Wesfarmers RAP sets out what we intend to do to drive our businesses towards our goal of a workplace that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
We want our businesses to be welcoming to employees, suppliers, customers and community members. Building our respect for, and growing our collective knowledge of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures is an important step on this journey.
Many of our businesses have Acknowledgement of Country plaques in stores, especially in new store developments or refurbishments. Cultural awareness training is offered to team members, and ‘Welcome to Country’ and ‘Acknowledgement of Country’ protocols have been implemented across all businesses.
NAIDOC Week continues to be a central focus for many team members, and more than 800 activities were held to celebrate NAIDOC Week in 2017 across the Wesfarmers Group.
